2020 Volkswagen Atlas vs 2020 Chevrolet Traverse SUV Comparison in Cerritos, CA

The Volkswagen Atlas is an award-winning vehicle that combines the quality and precision German engineering of Volkwagen with the space of a three-row SUV. At McKenna Volkswagen, we understand that research is a vital part of making a decision like this, and that includes checking options like the Chevrolet Traverse. 2020 VW Atlas vs 2020 Chevy Traverse: Passenger Space

Though they're both 3-row SUVs, the Chevrolet Traverse is larger than the Volkswagen Atlas. Despite this, the Volkswagen Atlas just might make your passengers feel more comfortable. Similarly, the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas has more front and third-row legroom than the Chevrolet Traverse.

VW Atlas technology

2020 VW Atlas vs 2020 Chevy Traverse: Technology

Though these SUVs may seem to have similar technology, the VW Atlas has a few features you won't find in the Chevy Traverse. For one thing, the 2020 Atlas offers a 12-speaker Fender® Premium Audio System. The top-of-the-line audio system in the Traverse has just ten speakers. But, perhaps even more impressively, the Atlas offers the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, a completely customizable digital screen that replaces the standard instrument cluster. It can store up to four driver profiles, so you can always have your information displayed just the way you like it.

The Volkswagen Atlas offers two available engine options, while the Chevrolet Traverse has just one. 2020 VW Atlas vs 2020 Chevy Traverse: Design

Even at the entry level, the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas comes with features like LED headlights to improve visibility and roof rails that make it easier to attach surfboards, bicycles, and other larger gear. These features aren't even available options on the entry-level Chevy Traverse; you have to upgrade just to get the opportunity to add them. On the inside, the Chevy Traverse and the VW Atlas share many of the same features. But when it comes to upgrades, Volkswagen gives you more at lower trim levels. All but the entry-level VW Atlas come with leatherette seating surfaces (or leather, if you choose the SEL Premium trim), while cloth stays the standard for most Traverse trims.

2020 VW Atlas vs 2020 Chevy Traverse: Driver Assistance Technology

No matter which 2020 Volkswagen Atlas you choose, you're making a safe choice for your family. Even at the entry level, the 2020 Atlas comes with a Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Monitoring. None of these features are standard in the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse--in fact, they're not even available at the entry level.

2020 VW Atlas vs 2020 Chevy Traverse: Value

The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse does have a starting MSRP that's lower than that of the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas. However, this price is for the stripped-down L trim, which lacks features like LED lights, driver assistance technology, and more--features that are all standard on the VW Atlas. Getting some of these features will end up costing more than an entry-level VW Atlas. When it comes to quality for your money, Volkswagen is the way to go.
